Role: Creative Director “Project CLD”

About the Role:
We are seeking a Creative Director for Animation to lead the visual storytelling of a light-hearted, humorous educational adventure series for children. This is a contract-based role that allows you to work from anywhere in the world. The ideal candidate will bring creative clarity, consistent artistic direction, and a collaborative spirit to help shape the tone and style of the series.
This position is responsible for establishing and maintaining the visual language of the series. The Creative Director will work closely with the scriptwriter and showrunner to ensure that each episode visually aligns with the storytelling goals. You will provide guidance to the animation and art teams, give feedback on character design, background art, color palettes, and overall composition, and support the production through clear communication and quality control.
Key Responsibilities:
Define and uphold the visual style, tone, and animation direction of the series.
Provide consistent feedback on visual assets, including characters, backgrounds, and scenes.
Ensure visual continuity and cinematic appeal across all episodes.
Collaborate with team members to align visuals with narrative, mood, and pacing.
Support other creatives and help problem-solve stylistic challenges when they arise.
Occasionally contribute to visual development tasks such as color styling or layout suggestions, depending on need.
Workload:
This role requires an average of 5 to 10 hours per week, with peaks of 10 to 15 hours during key phases such as character design, storyboard review, and animatic approvals.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in a leadership role such as Creative Director, Art Director, or Lead Animator on animated productions.
Strong understanding of visual storytelling, color theory, composition, and character performance.
Excellent communication and organizational skills, with experience directing remote teams.
A portfolio or reel demonstrating narrative strength, stylistic range, and a high level of craft.
