Join local creatives as we create an animation from scratch in 24 hours! Inspired by Scott McCloud's "24-Hour Comic", this 24-hour challenge has been split up into two separate days (12 hours each day) to allow for you to get some rest in the middle. All participants must register online.

Requirements:

Age: Age 18 years and up.

Experience: At least moderate experience in one of these fields: 2D Digital Animation, Storyboarding, Character Design, Background Painting, Sound Design, Illustration, or Script Writing.

Work Station: Have access to their own work station with the programs required for their field. This list can be found on the registration form.

Registration: ALL participants must have an approved registration form.

Participating On-Site:

We can't wait to work with you in-person! Please note the above schedule to know when you should arrive.

Animation Materials/Software: Each artist must have access to their own work station with the programs required for their field. This list can be found on the registration form.

Food/Drinks: Snacks are provided on-site throughout the challenge. There are restaurants surrounding the location, and a fridge, microwave, and toaster if you choose to bring your meals. Meals will not be provided.

Promissory Letter: Before the event, everyone will be emailed a letter spelling out the regulations of this challenge.

Still or Video Camera (*Optional): We are documenting this event, and will produce a behind-the-scenes video of the 12n12. Our photographers will make studio visits and we would love to include your work process in the master video. We welcome your footage!

Participation: We would love to have you participate for the full 24 hour challenge, but we understand if you are only able to join us for the hours your skillset is needed. You may leave at any time during the challenge to take breaks or otherwise.

Participating Remotely:

So you want to work from home? Great! This will allow you to participate while you do your laundry. Below is a list of items you must have the day of the competition.

Telephone: So that we may contact you on a consistent basis.

Internet access: You will be required to email versions of your work. Become familiar with your internet speed, so that you may properly average how much time it will take to send in your animation phases. This will ensure that you meet every deadline.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Can I put the final animation in my portfolio?

A: Yes, the final animation can be used in your portfolio immediately after the challenge in private sharing situations. However, it may not be shared publicly (for example on social media) until after My Animation Life's October premiere screening of the animation at the Animator's Dinner event.

Q: Can I bring a friend or family member with me to the on-site location who is not registered for the event?

A: No, unfortunately space is limited, and we can only accommodate registered participants.

Q: If I don't have a laptop, can I bring my desktop computer.

A: Yes, we have limited space, so please let us know before bringing it.

Q: My skills are in one area, but I would like to help in another. Is that possible?

A: Absolutely! It is necessary for you to have one contributing skill, but you are welcome to contribute with the entire animation.

Q: Where can I eat near the on-site location?

A: There are a handful of restaurants near the on-site location. There is also a shuttle 3 blocks from the on-site location that will take you to and from Atlantic Station which has over 22 restaurants.
